Jungian Analytical Psychotherapy Training in Coventry

The Jungian-focused Analytical Psychotherapy Training offered in Coventry has been a respected and influential part of the city’s therapeutic landscape since its establishment in 1990. The programme is dedicated to providing a high-quality, in-depth learning experience through which trainees develop into reflective, ethical and competent practitioners grounded in Jungian and post-Jungian psychotherapy. To support this mission, the Training Committee promotes a vibrant, open-minded and well-informed Jungian culture across Coventry and the wider West Midlands, including an annual programme of public lectures that enrich the local analytic community.

Our Training Pathways

The Analytical Psychotherapy Training offers three main routes:

  • Four-Year Analytical Psychotherapy Training
A rigorous clinical qualifying programme rooted in Jungian and post-Jungian theory, leading to BPC registration and recognised professional status within Coventry and the West Midlands psychotherapy community.

  • Introduction to Analytical Psychotherapy Course
An ideal starting point for individuals wishing to engage with Jungian analytic principles without committing to a full qualifying training at this stage.

  • Two-Year Infant Observation Training
A structured programme offering deep insight into early development and relational dynamics, supporting richer understanding within a Jungian analytical framework.

Our Training Philosophy

Our training philosophy places Jungian principles at the centre of the learning experience. We recognise that effective practice in Analytical Psychotherapy depends not only on strong theoretical and clinical grounding, but also on the practitioner’s authenticity, imagination, and self-awareness—core values of Jungian psychology. Trainees are encouraged to develop personal authority and confidence, enabling them to navigate the diversity of approaches within modern analytical psychotherapy while remaining grounded in Jung’s emphasis on individuation and symbolic meaning.

Remaining true to Jung’s vision of autonomous individuals, the programme fosters a culture of inquiry rather than adherence to rigid orthodoxy. While the curriculum is firmly grounded in the theories of C.G. Jung and expanded by post-Jungian developments, it also integrates wider psychoanalytic, developmental, and object-relations perspectives. Each subject is taught by specialists in their field, providing trainees with a rich, diverse, and symbolically nuanced analytic learning experience.
